bear lake

Richard wanted to ride the bear lake century this weekend.  It starts at the hotsprings on the NE corner of bear lake and goes to Minnetonka cave, then to Montpelier and back.  He ended up doing about 70 of the 100 miles, which is pretty good since he hasn't had a spare minute to train.

My family decided to make it a trip, so we had my mom and dad, andy + Virginia and their kids, and us.  It was a perfect weekend in my opinion, no stress, no major meltdowns, almost enough sleep and just a good time.  The weather wasn't too hot, but wasn't too cold and the kids played really well.  I got some great pictures Saturday night on the beach.

 Virginia and sterling (trac)

 grandma and the grandkids

from Richard's body language it appears that we are strangers and that he is afraid of me.
 chloe (6) loves the seashells
they love to throw the mud
 exploring snake grass and seashells
love this pic.  she's got quiet the get up on!
ahh Julia.  I love this little one.  don't grow up bopee.
the reflection is cool on this picture.  bear lake often gets some pretty cool clouds that roll over the lake in the late afternoon.
anna and remi have a blast together.

anna was so tired by the end of the day that she went to bed well before her cousins.  it was a miracle.
 Julia loves her "pa pa"
the walk back to the cabin is very long.
but they made it.  I remember as a kid always wishing someone would just carry me back.
anna loves the cabin.  but she told me she likes Christmas better.
we shared a cookiedough shake at the bear cave.

Julia on the way home.  I didn't even know she had those glasses and I looked back to see this.  what a treat.

we made it home in time for church.  we sure looked like a motley bunch, but we made it!!  We love the cabin.  It was nice to go so soon after grandpa passing away.  I felt a little sad to sit in his blue chair, but I am so happy he has left such a treat for us.  I wish he could have been there with us.
