I do love Julia
Looking back at our old blog it may seem to some, possibly an older and sibiling rivaled Julia, that we loved anna more because there are more pictures of her. I dont want you to feel that way someday Julia, so I stayed up until midnight making a slideshow a some of the best pics of your first year. couldnt figure out how to do the movies, but here are some pics! look at your hair go from lots to none back to lots! you are such a cutie we love you.
Julia True is 1
Julia is a happy baby.
She was sick this week but you would never know it. When changing her second diarrhea diaper of the night (after three episodes of vomit), she ran away from me laughing. This is at like 1 in the morning. What a crazy girl. The only times she cries is when she is stuck in her crib or when she is really really tired. Those two often go together. Oh and she also cries when she wants me to save her from anna. Anyways, as long as she is safe and able to romp around she is happy.
She had blue eyes at birth, but they are turning hazel green.
Her hair is brown but turning blonde at the roots. It is so fine and soft. So so so so soft. People often comment on how soft she is. I love to rub my cheeks over her hair.
She looks like my baby pics I think. Just a little chipmunk with cherry cheeks.
She is a tease, she loves to take things away just to get a rise out of people, meaning adults too. She teases her sister all the time. the worst is in the car, she pulls Anna's hair and touches her hand just to make her cry.
Her fav game now is to put things in other things. She puts rocks and toys and socks in Anna's boots. Anna gets mad. She puts things in cupboards, bowls and down her shirt. She loves to put her dinner down the side of her chair and on the floor. She loves to feed other people at meals too.
She is not a good eater unless its tortillas and cheese or blueberries. She can down a whole pint of blueberries. She mostly likes fresh fruit. She loves to feed herself, which can be frustrating because not everything is a finger food! But oh well, she tries to cure the hunger she must feel from skipping meals by putting everything in her mouth. Rocks, shoes, socks, money, toys, pens, markets......you name it. Really Julia? Still? Hopefully now that she walks that will lessen as she's not a ground level so often.
Oh yeah, she started walking a few weeks ago. She started crawling army style at 6 months. she continues this way until January this year. Right before we moved to Utah she picked up the idea of real crawling from her friend Olivia. but she didn't accomplish the feat until she had plently of practice getting around on grandma heiners hard floor when we lived there. Anyways, she walks pretty good now but falls down a lot. can go up stairs but not down. Can climb on the couch and climbs into weird places too.
She likes to copy you and loves to wave to anybody and likes to blow kisses. She will give you the biggest smile if she has not seen you in a while. When you hold her she will snuggle up to you but she loves to suck her thumb and it looks so cute.
She will go to almost anyone. She has minimal stranger danger unless she has just woken up.
She loves music and does squats to the beat of any song. She is a cute little dancer. She loves to shake rattles to music.
She likes to do everything her sister is doing and follows her around. She just started to look at books with Anna in her library but doesn't like to sit read a book with me. I think I've only been able to strap her down to do that once or twice.
She is so cute to look at with her olive skin, teasing eyes and messy hair. She just makes you smile to look at her.
She screams for a second almost every time we put her in her carseat. But she Gets over it quick and often falls asleep in the car.
Julia has a sweet tooth. She loves the junk food. There have been many times that I can't get her to eat dinner, but then someone eats a cookie and gives her a bite and she just can't get enough!
She usually takes a nap at 8am and 11 am everyday. Sometimes she still takes a 3 or 4 o clock nap, but not often. But because our life is busy i haven't been able to stick to a nap schedule like I did with one kid. So sometimes she revolts and has no naps. Sometimes she doesn't go down until 1. She does this painful thing where she wakes up at 5:30 and moans. We call her mona lisa sometimes. If we let her cry it out she goes back to sleep until 7am. But if she is sharing a room with ana we can't do that. So we were getting up that early. Hopefully we can hold out strong and get her back to sleeping in. She goes to bed at 7 each night without any problems.
She is weaned. Just this week really. It's exciting.
Not sure what else to say except that I can't get enough of her. I love to snuggle her and hold and rock her. I love to play with her. I love her expressive eyebrows, its like she can have a conversation with you just with her eyes. She is such a blessing in our life and in the life of our family. She brings joy to so many people it's just unbelievable. I'm lucky to be able to be called her momma. happy bday julia! we love you!

Fantasy Canyon
We went on a little road trip today since Richard got his 40 hours in in 4 days. We had a picnic at the lovely picnic site.
isn't it scenic?
julia and i have a similar face i think!
i carried julia on the hike into the "canyon"
anna hiked. she actually likes walking anymore. its wonderful.
she even climbed.
this is the canyon. rock formations. its amazing what a little wind and water can do under the right conditions.
hiking along.
grandpa buhler rich and anna. trying to find the mickey mouse and flying dumbo in the formations. i must have a lame imagination because i didn't see much in them besides cool looking rocks.
some pictures without people (:
we told anna there wa sa troll. its a hiking tradition of my dads. nothing like deterring kids from enjoying the hike.
paul up high with josie.
anna had to go potty in the "cave of wonders" (we made tha tname up). rich had her try to go there but she couldn't do it.
anna had to find something to read. she loves reading signs. she spent a good 5 minutes making up different variations of what this sign might say.
beautiful scenery from above the canyon. does "lone and dreary wilderness" ring a bell?
anna in the canyon. it was a terrific place for her to bee-bopp around. I love how it looks so big without people in it. it makes you feel like a giant.
anna held her pee pee until we made it to this. the lone and dreary "big hole" as anna would call it. I wanted to document her first experience with an outhouse. there will be many more.
I told paul to smile. he said "i can't" he really cant. his face just wont let him. but he made a good effort!
Julia will be one tomorrow, so i took her out and attempted to get a good shot! I got one!
whats going on over there?!
hmmm im not so sure about that, but my mullet it really rock'n.
im so tired and i need a nap. ill just suck my thumb now.
not sure i can walk on this uneven surface.
duhhhhhhheyyy.
thumb. Like I said earlier I have been reading my grandma heiner's journal. I've made it to the year 1965. My dad was 9. He still sucked his thumb. I also sucked my thumb until the 4th or 5th grade. I think this may be genetic and we are in trouble.
trying to make me laugh.
anna likes to play with orange peels. she pretends they are people or animals and marches them around making up songs for them. its great. greatly entertaining and somewhat odd.
ahhh she finally went to sleep. this little pill is a horrid napper. But I'll take it, she's so cute I sometimes hate putting her down for a nap.

Some movies of Julia
The music room
Grandma has a piano and a children's song book. I know how to play the piano. Anna thinks she is a ballerina. Thus we have a music room at grandmas house. Anyone who enters must either play the piano or dance, in ballerina form as instructed by the ballerina boss Anna. Below is a pic of Anna and grandma playing and singing together. This girl loves music.
Movie of this to come.

Bernal
Or in non-toddler form: vernal
We've been having a fun time. We went to the library, of course, because Anna functions a lot better when she has twenty something new stories to make up words to. She sometimes lets me read the actual words too. As usual, Anna is very sick with snot so thick you could make abounds ball out of it.
Rich has been working crazy long days at the mine near here doing some engineering. He leaves around 7 and gets home around 6:30. Today he got home at noon since he squeezed his 40 hours into 3 days. So we decided to visit some animals at a farm he worked at when he was a kid. Anna screamed when we put her in the car t take her home. But we didn't want to throw off grandpas groove too much by leaving Julia with him too long. (She's sick and was taking a nap)

Changing beds
I'm reading my grandmothers journal. I probably met her while i was in heaven, but i dont remember. She had 8 kids. For some reason she keeps track of the loads of laundry she does and when she changes the bed. Probably to document to posterity how much work 8 kids is. I can only imagine what a pain it was to tear apart and wash 8 beds!
I thnk I got a taste of it last night though. Julia is sick with what my grandma would term "the intestinal flu" (she References this often in her journal as it seems one kid was always sick with it). I put her to bed on a blanket in the pack and play because she had diarrhea and soiled the sheets. Then (of course as soon as I layed down and was almost asleep) she puked and soiled the blanket. So i put the sheets back on and she puked on them again. The cycle repeated with poop and barf until about 2 am. I changed her bed 6 times within 24 hours. Poor girl. The night before I also changed Anna's bed as she peed the bed.
Usually I wouldn't feel pretty bad for myself but knowing what my grandma did makes my life seem like a piece of cake.

Over the river and through the woods
To grandparents house we go! We are in vernal. We've had a good day exploring new toys, playing the piano, driving and snacking on yummy food. Anna can't stand the sun, hence the glasses. She loves to play the primary songs and make up words according to the pictures. Funny girl. Julia is very grouchy today, I'm thinking she is pretty sick.

March madness
You would think my husband was married to his computer this time of year. Gotta love the march madness. Actually he's a good man. He took me shoe shopping today. We went to 6 stores. That's love.
