moving in and some Serendipity
Now the work begins! I've never been in a dirtier house, which is rough for me since I've spent the past year in the Taj Mahal of apartments. Oh well, I've just got to take it one step at a time. Yesterday morning rich and I woke up at 4 or 5. I guess we were too excited to unpack. We unpacked everything and rich started to mow the lawn. Then we headed over to ron's to finish cleaning. My visiting teacher Sarah Windes met me there. Gail watched the kids while we cleaned. They gave us our deposit back in full!
Rachel made us lunch. Then we headed home to put Julia down. anna and I went and got milk at smiths (within walking distance! but we drove). Then I started cleaning like crazy while the girls played and watched movies. At about bedtime I was trying to clean the guest bathroom. It had some major hard water deposits that were yellow (nasty!). I scrubbed and scrubbed with lime away and was about to meltdown point (I'd been cleaning all day!). Richard was so sensitive and he looked up online what he needed to do - went to home depot - got supplies - and cleaned the toilets for me. That's love. And it's also why I married Richard, he's good a solving problems for me.
Today (sunday) has been a welcome day of relaxation. It was pretty crazy. We went to church and felt so welcomed. Tons of people said hello and welcomed us. The girls went to primary and nursery without one drop of fear! It was very unexpected (and wonderful). I sat next to girl named Julia in relief society. She somehow figured out that I am Rachel Mitchell's friend and she is Rachel Mitchell's sister in law. So, the baby that we watch - spencer - is her nephew. And it goes a step further - she used to live in our house! We bought the home from her inlaws and she was living in the basement before they put it on the market.
Serendipity is in the title because I've offered the basement to Rachel and Jaren. I don't like having a big empty basement. But I have no desire to rent it to strangers! Maybe since his sister lived there they will be more likely to want to? Richard also saw a kid from Vernal in our ward. Also, Richard was talking to his boss last week, and he grew up on our street! My boss grew up on the street behind us. It's just been pretty wild moving to this house, the world just seems so small.
Here are the things I love about the house so far:
dimple dell park in walking distance (miles of nature trails)
walking distance to library
nice neighbors (the entire RS presidency lives in sight, ward choir is next door every Sunday...you get the idea)
it's so quiet you can hear the breeze blowing through the leaves - it makes me feel like I'm in the mountains
garage (we both have black cars, that's really bad in the summer when you don't have a garage)
our own bathroom.
I took a bath! For the first time in a year!
sidewalks (we went for a walk this afternoon)
front porch (I sat out there and talked ont he phone this afternoon)
functional kitchen with stainless steel sink
the list goes on - but I'm tired and going to bed
Here's some of my major to do's this week:
wash windows
After carpets are cleaned (Tuesday 8am) move everything into the rooms and organize
wash all doors and walls
clean fridge and behind fridge (and oven! and washer! and dryer!)
Did I mention we walked to the library Friday night?
At 5:30 and stayed until closing at 6 pm.
anna was dying to go.
then we walked to an Indian restaurant. yes, we walked there.
We have been learning about india this month. anna will tell you all about it. she was thrilled to eat at this restaurant. she chose mango chicken - but she hardly ate it because she filled up on NAAN. so did I! Actually I ordered Aloo Paratha because I've made it before and wondered what it should taste like. mine was better.
this morning we had French toast. notice the LIGHT coming in from the window above the sink.
bathroom. Julia loves that she can climb on the toilet and get into mischief on the sink.
anna's dancing room. this and the blue carpeted room in the basement are anna's favorites.
Julia's room.
anna's room.
our room.
kitchen
garage. thank heavens for the garage.

namaste, we are moving
I spent the rest of the day packing a cleaning the house. The girls played outside. when I went to check on them, they were working together to fill the tires on anna's bike.....and then to fill Julia's boot with air.
they love the water table! especially when it is a pony swimming pool paradise.
anna is getting good a balancing.
last night Richard and I filled Ron's trailer full of stuff. Our folding chairs got put away. Anna was starting to freak out a little this morning so I said "look anna, we are having an INDIAN breakfast, and I sat down on the floor and said "Namaste." That made her feel better. We are learning about India this month - so anything becomes fun when it's associated with india.
We should move in tonight. We are waiting for the bank to look over Richard's paystub. We are also waiting for the sellers to sign and finish up. If not today hopefully Saturday. If we have to wait until Monday I might cry.

grandpa glenn is 89
Anna and Julia always get excited about birthday cake - so Aunt Annette let Anna help her light the candles, I think it was the highlight of her day. That and helping Grandpa Glenn blow them out. You can see a blur of my mom's brother in there too, Uncle Eric.

bad hair day
As I walked into the salon, I was surprised to run into my 85 year old neighbor, who was headed into the same salon for her weekly perm. Something inside me said "this is NOT the place!" When we stepped inside, my suspicion was validated as I found my self surrounded by women sitting under hair dryers with big fat rollers in their white hair. Seriously. Lots of old ladies. I wanted to run, but I had made the apt. and I wasn't going to ditch this lady that came in on Saturday morning for me.
I wish I wouldn't have been so thoughtful. I sat in the geriatric hair unit for 1.5 hours while this woman attempted to cut my hair. I have A LOT of hair. It's wavy and thick. If you don't know what you are doing, I end up looking like the lady in the Dilbert comic strip (triangle hair). The lady must have liked the dilbert look, because when she was done I looked like an fuzzy Egyptian pyramid. Thank goodness I have a little more guts than I used to....I told the lady to keep cutting because it didn't look right. She kept going - then she attempted to style it using almost a whole bottle of hairspray and about a gallon of some "frizz taming serum." I almost never use hairspray at home. By the time I got home, my hair was bigger and frizzier than it would have been if I got struck by lightening. I cried. Anna and Julia were very concerned.
After washing out all the hairspray and taming it down, it didn't look so bad. I don't know why I had to cry. I Just hate getting my hair cut. It's traumatic. I remember crying almost every time I got it cut when I was a kid. Everyone has things they are crazy about - this is just one of mine. I hope that before I die I'll find a way to enjoy getting my hair cut. The first step might be to do it more often than every 2 years.
This comic is stupid, but here is the triangle hair:

another cousin day
Virginia watched my kids Monday while i worked. Anna and remi love to play.
chloe and remi came to play wed while Virginia went to the ob. They had a great time! They love to run around and play imagination together. Im always.impressed with Virginia s kids.ability to entertain themselves.
After.that we picked up Evan from Morgan. He earned a private sleepover. I think he's had a good time today. We had pancakes for bfasy, smoothies for lunch and pizza for dinner. We jumped on the tramp (a lot!) Watched a dumb movie, played imagination games and went fishing. He told me he is sad he has to go home tomorrow. That makes me happy! its fun being an aunt.

a post without pictures and too many words.
If you are reading this and are not part of Richards family: Josie is Richard's dad's springer spaniel. Actually Richard's brother's dog....but that's just a technicality. Izzy is Richard's dad's dog (who anna witnessed the creation of!) who was hit by a car a few weeks ago. She had to be put down.
Anna got carsick on the way there. Luckily we were right next to wolf creek and gave the car seat a good washing. This also forced me to clean out the car when we got to Vernal (something I rarely do).
Julia is a little doll. She loves to pretend to be a princess and prance around. She and Josie have made amends and by sunday Julia was petting Josie with ease and....(gasp) even for pleasure. Truly amazing. She slept through the night in the big full bed downstairs. Truly amazing.
Anna ran around with Josie a lot. Now that Izzy is gone, Josie is a little more up for a playmate it seems. Anna also enjoys sleeping in Aunt Joy's bed, doing puzzles, playing with little people toys and playing in the bay window behind grandma's couch. Oh yeah, and we let her watch a movie - peter pan. VHS! I'm sure it was the highlight of her trip.
both girls enjoy dancing while grandma plays the piano.
Rich and I went to the temple.
Richard spent all day Saturday cleaning out the boat only to find we couldn't take it out because Steven has the clip........in his truck........in Hawaii. We went fishing on the shore at Matt Warner Reservoir. As usual, we caught nothing. We ate KFC for dinner - Julia loved it and Anna wouldn't touch it. Paul got in a fight with some men in wife beaters after their pit bull attacked Josie. We eventually forgave him for embarrassing us and almost getting murdered.
Joyce had me play the piano for her in primary as she had a work meeting on sunday. I messed up a few times, but the kids didn't notice. I'm excited to finally have a piano again.
I drove half the way home. I don't think I've ever done that before. I usually fall asleep within the first 5 minutes of hopping in the car. I listened to NPR to keep me awake.
Within 5 minutes of getting home my mom called. She was at grandmas and wanted to visit. Anna peed her pants (literally) with excitement. Then she fell off the tramp and hit her head. She's fine. It was good to see my mom. Jilly went to prom and had a great time. Mom did a 5,000$ wedding at red butte gardens.
Richard washed some gasoline filled pants in the washer and I had to do 4 empty loads today to get the smell out. I had to work today and took the kids to Virginias. Her 3rd baby Trac (Sterling) is getting so big. She is 15 weeks pregnant. I do not envy her. Anna and Remi have a great time running around together.
This afternoon Julia played on the big trampoline in the backyard without fright. It was truly amazing. Anna was the fairy and turned Julia and I into different things (donkeys, birds, princesses, princes). It was great.
Richard started his new job today. He says it went fine. Since it's a small company he actually started working on his first day! That's a miracle! I've never worked at place where I didn't have at least 2 days of orientation! I hope he likes it there! He went for a bike ride after work. We missed him at lunch and anna was worried that he wouldn't be able to find his way home from his new job. We called him to be sure he could get home........around 4:00 Julia starts asking where Daddy is. He got home after 6 tonight. It will be good to move closer to his job.

Baby spencer and a visit from the sissy pants.
Anna is really good with him. She reads him books and when he fusses she tries to calm him down. She is always very calm with him "it's okay spencer, your mom will come back soon, you are okay"
We had a great surprise visit from Aunt Amy! I love my sissy. We jumped on the trampoline and played with the water table. Jane and Julia fought. Anna and evan were adorable together. They were playing in anna's room and I got books down for them. Anna said "Evan, would you like to come sit by me?" Evan said "Yes, I would love to sit by you Anna" In their cute little polite kindergarten voices. If no one else is around, anna and evan are really good playmates.
