bear lake with the heiners

Richard has the great idea of going to the cabin for conference weekend.  He told me this morning that it's nice to listen there because he has minimal distractions (ie the internet).

 I love the color palate of bear lake in the spring.  I don't think I've ever been up there this early.  I love the light yellows, turquoise blues, browns and light sage greens.  So relaxing and peaceful.  I think those are the colors in the Vernal Temple, yes?  Between the first and second sessions on Saturday Richard went for a 24 mile bike ride around the lake.  Julia took a nap, anna read by the fire, grandpa made a batch of oatmeal cookies.

 We mostly hung out in the cabin listening to conference.  You won't believe it from this picture, but earlier in the day it was snowing...enough that we wondered if we should move our cars up (you have to go down a big hill to get to the cabin).  My wise dad said not to worry, the storm would pass.

 And it did.  After the second session we headed out to the beach.  The girls waded too deep and flooded their galoshes.  So naturally they took them off and walked barefoot on the frigid beach.  Crazy girls.  Julia was cautious about it, but anna waded in the lake and proceeded to ask "mom, did you bring our swimsuits?"

 I don't know what happened in this weird picture, but it sure looks cool!  The white stuff is seashells.  Look at them all!

 pretty.  the fun didn't last too much longer.  There was some quick sand and Julia got sucked in.  She got scared and her sacred thumb! got dirty so she couldn't suck it.  I tried to rinse it off in the lake and that made her even more mad, so I carried her back to the cabin kicking and screaming.  We put both girls in the tub (where they made a huge mess pouring water out of the tub) and had a relaxing dinner before going to bed.  Richard drove around looking for priesthood session but never found it.  He ended up listening to it on the ipad using a church's internet connection.

 Before bed the girls had a good time sliding down the stairs in their beanbags.

 and then of course more reading occurred.

 After the girls went to bed (and got up making mischief and went back to bed) we played PIT with mom and dad.  My mom won by a landslide.  We also did some lateral thinking puzzles.  It was a perfect temp and quiet for sleeping, we got some good rest.

 This morning we went for a walk to give Julia some happy exposure to cows (my dr. told me that frequent happy exposure to animals should help cure her phobias).

 Anna walked maybe a mile because I told her a bunch of stories.  Julia got carried by grandpa.  She loves him.  She walks around saying PAPA.

 My mom carried Julia's baby for her.  how kind.

 Richard was kind enough to play with the girls during the first session of sunday morning conference.  Here they are playing monopoly.

we left in the middle so we could listen to the second session while driving.  Here are the little cuties sleeping in the backseat.  We are so happy they slept!  They both needed it!
