recipe for breea

falafel for breea

1 3/4 cups dried chickpeas - soak all day or just for a few hours if that's all you have time for 8 hrs is ideal
2 cloves garlic
1 small onion
1 tsp ground coriander
1 T cumin
1 tsp cayenne
1 C cilantro
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 T lemon juice

put it all in the food processor and pulse until its chopped enough that you can form it into balls
pan fry in as little oil as possible

or do it bryan and breea style:  chop dried chickpeas by hand.  then attempt to mix in blender.  cook in the fry daddy.

tzatziki

i made this up.

a little EVOO (like 1 T)
1 T vinegar (white or cider but last time i used balsamic cuz i felt like it and it was good)
garlic (i like a lot, so i usually just do about a T)
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1 C nonfat greek yogurt
1 c lite sour cream (i leave this out sometimes)
2 cucumbers small dice (peeled)
1 t dill (fresh is best, but i used dried dill weed)

mix it up and enjoy with falafel and pita.  or if you are short on time because you took 2 two year olds hiking then just use tortillas

tourists: continued

After talking in church today we went to temple square.  It is wonderful to live in Salt Lake.  I tried to teach anna a little about temples before we went on LDS.org.  I'm not sure she gets the concept of baptisms for the dead, and she thinks that she is going to marry zachary and amber bamber.....at the same time.  when i told her that wouldn't work she decided she could marry her daddy.  I told her I already married him and he's taken.  She got really mad and said, "I DONT KNOW WHO IM GOING TO MARRY!"
jULIA is wearing a temple crown here.  still a cool pic though.
 the flowers were beautiful.
not as pretty as the tulip fields in woodburn OR, but still lovely.
 anna and daddy.
julia enjoys walking around, and she is so cute when she does.
 grumble grumble.
reflecting on eternity.  isn't that what people say about the reflection pool.  a bit cheesy (see below for even more cheese) but also beautiful.

oh little julia.  she's posed for this pic.  Anyways, we are going to have to go there more often!  It's fun to live 10 minutes from temple square!

tourists

We've been Utah tourists for some reason this week.  I didn't have anything planned, but then our week got filled up.

Monday:  my sis came to visit from Morgan and gave us passes to the natural history museum.  Anna and I read a bunch of books about dinosaurs while in vernal, so this was really neat for us.

my dad came with us because he loooooves museums almost as much as anna.  Julia only wanted him to hold her.  she loves her grandpa!  The natural history museum is a beautiful building and it was a beautiful day.

Tuesday:  we just went to the library, nothing exciting

Wednesday: went to "jump around utah" with zachary and cherie

After dinner anna and i went for a hike in milcreek canyon.  a beautiful but cold day

thursday:  my friend from college (and her 2 little girls) came over to play!  hooray for RD friends!  then we spent the rest of the day at my grandparents

friday: we went to the zoo in the am and then in the afternoon rachel came over!

saturday: I went trail running in the snow for over an hour.  it was AWESOME.  i love living at the mouth of the canyon.  Then rich's parents drove up from Vernal to see the girls.  We went to this is the place monument.  i've never been there, it was fun.  The pig you see in the picture escaped from the petting zoo while we were there, it was quiet the hub bub.  You can see in the horse pic that anna's entire hand is in the horses mouth, she didn't like that too much.  Anyways, it was a fun week seeing the sights of utah.
