long nights, long days, tired parents

we got to bed early last night anticipating midnight tummy troubles.  and oh we had some!  Julia started crying, but i didn't realize she got out of bed and went to the potty.  so i got up to check and anna started wailing and threw up in my hands in the hallway.  we rushed to the bathroom - where we found julia - sitting on a toilet full of bright green diarrhea as if it was completely normal to be in the bathroom having diarrhea in the middle of the night..........

we got them both in the bath and i cleaned up the diarrhea and vomit..........while rich put the girls back to bed.............

there was a moment where rich and i just looked at eachother over anna's pile of putrid vomit and laughed........thinking......is this really happening??  I don't know if there are many other times that I have loved richard more than when he was helping me clean that up last night.  yuck.  none of us have been able to eat much today.

then we couldn't fall asleep.

we woke up and the girls played with grandma and grandpa buhler for a while (they spent the night) until they had to go up to peoa to clean out grandma true's house on woodenshoe lane.  they wanted us to come, but i wasn't going to risk taking a vomiting and diarrheaing girl on an hour car ride.......

We instead hung out all day and made this turkey.  my plan was to add a few feathers each day, but anna adored this project and she spent hours on it today.  she put every last one of the feathers i cut out up (and cut out a few of her own with her new cutting skills).

when looking at the feathers I noticed some odd things - like autumntime (spelled correctly), stories (spelled correctly), baptism...........and on and on church terms.  I didn't know anna was that spiritual or that good at spelling.  Then I noticed that she was COPYING words from the primary songbook.  REally?  She was practicing spelling and writing.  Not really my intention for this project - but I think a good turn of events anyways.  Ohh anna my studiuous little one.

Julia was a quiet a tease today because she is tired.  In the afternoon we watched Lilo and Stich because anna has been asking to watch it.  she made me turn it off after a little bit because it was too scary.  i agreed - it was not very little kid friendly - too much tension and fighting.  we had pancakes for lunch.  the girls ate 1 each.  i usually have to make 2 batches just to keep them full!  what is going on?

i made chicken noodle soup for dinner.  everyone tried, but no one ate much.  we instead had some canned pears and peaches.  The girls played in anna's room for a while and went to bed.  below is julia coloring at the desk.  they love to color at the desk.  And now - at 8:50 pm rich and i are going to bed.  are we 80 or what?
