i guess im on a once a week basis now
I've just been feeling a little overwhelmed and dismal lately, and it makes it hard to want to blog, or do anything really.
But life carries on and it's the second week of december so we've been doing christmasy things.
Last friday I worked in downtown salt lake. I love work while I am there, but I carry too much of it home with me. And then I worry about what I did wrong when people don't come to their follow up appointments. I don't think counseling is the right job for me.
Richard finished our mantle and put it up saturday and it looks amazing! Thank you honey, you are a handy man! it really transforms the way the room looks.
Rich and I left the girls with the neighbor chloe and went for an early morning hike on saturday. It was beautiful. I love the winter colors, mellow yellow, steel blues, browns and faded greens. Great idea richard! it's so nice to have a good dependable teenaged babysitter that will come to your house at 6:30 AM!!
Sunday morning we went for a hike up the little cottonwood canyon. There is a little trail that used to be a temple quarry, it takes maybe 5 minutes to drive there and is a 1 mile paved walk with signs. We saw some mountain goats on the cliffs looming above our heads. That made it worthwhile for richard. If this weather continues maybe we can go every sunday (we have 1:00 church right now, I am so glad we are moving back to 9:00!!).
On sunday I drove up to Ogden with my mom and sister watch Amy perform in a bell choir. It was actually very beautiful. It was fun to see amy's kids. Gavin taught me how to play pokemon and it was actually kind of fun, just like a game. It was good because i wasn't trapped there for too long, I would think it could go on forever.......When we got back to mom's (we carpooled from bountiful) we were greeted by 3 deer in her front yard (a normal sighting in bountiful).
On monday Anna had a dance class party. We were invited to go and watch her dance. Rich took pictures but I'm not sure how to get them on the blog. It was fun to watch! She never stops moving in that class and she looks like she is having a lot of fun and being creative! She also gets to play with the kids in her dance class while she dances, so it's good socially too. I'm happy with my choice to take her there. After class they had a little party (meaning there were treats to eat). Anna wanted to make snowman cookies, so we did and we had fun making them and sharing them with friends. later in the afternoon we walked some around to our church friends (we made a lot of cookies, like 10 dozen probably).
Tuesday was somewhat busy. Let's see, in the morning the girls played and played and played like crazy. I cleaned hte house - it always feels good to have a clean house, it was getting rather cluttered, especially in our room. We went to the library for story time int he late afternoon, then we took some cookies to our new friends the Hursts, who have girls anna and julia's ages. We stayed and played a while, then we took anna to music class, then we went to choir practice at the church for the christmas performance, then we went home.
julia has been calling this baby "baby bo" after Trina's baby boy.
we had pesto pasta for lunch! so messy! hooray for pesto from the freezer. this year I made it without cheese - it makes it easier to clean up, less expensive and it still tastes GOOD!
anna has been really good to read to julia lately, she tries to get julia to repeat words after her. julia tries. she is such a good big sister.
i found this on tuesday morning. Julia had set up a beauty salon in the hallway. Under the yellow chair is hairspray, a water spray bottle, a brush and some bows. This girl loves anything girly. I do not know where she learned it from.
On wednesday we walked over to a new friends house who live across from buttercup park. We met her at dance class and then later found out we were neighbors! They are very nice people and we had a good time there. We had spencer with us that day. In the afternoon, the littlest people took naps (julia is starting to drop hers, so a nap is a real treat when she takes one!), and Anna made some christmas presents for her cousins. Wednesday afternoon we went to a play at the library called Frog and Toad- it was spectacular. I want to go see the performance downtown, but I don't know if we will make. December is just a busy time!
Today I attempted to teach julia about the colors brown, black and white - she doesn't know them for some reason and (still) can't distinguish between brown and black. After that we jumped on the tramp, played outside and raked up the last of the leaves. I can't believe it is mid december. There is no snow and we spent the entire day outside without coats or jackets! The girls love the piano and pretend play and sing christmas songs often. They also spend a lot of time in the front room pretending to ice skate (using socks to make it slick!). Life is good. Writing a journal helps me to remember that, I need to get back into the habit of doing it more often.

decorating grandmas tree and some old pictures
grandma heiner wanted us to come over and put up some christmas decorations. anna loved it. we picked up remi on the way over. he and anna love to play together! She read him stories today. julia teased them both as she was tired (and she ate probably 6 pop tarts - the little sneak). I forgot my phone, but we went over to Viewmont high school to visit grandpa heiner. its his birthday tomorrow, so we wanted to give him some birthday loves. the girls sat at a workbench and ate their pbjs. remi guessed that grandpa is 91 and he was unsure if he was older or younger than grandma elaine. dad and i decided that to little kids - once you are old you are just old, there is no relativity once you reach a certain age (in the eyes of a 4 year old). we came home and practiced our music and made dinner. anna is sleeping with the care bear she took from grandma's house (my mom found a bunch of old toys - i plan to regift one to anna for christmas - its a giant horse with hair to decorate).
